Evaluating high-performance computing systems (HPCS) based on MPP architectures is a key part of the HPCC initiative. In order to provide HPCS designers with the insight needed to improve the next generation, one must correlate the performance measurements with the dynamic characteristics of the workload itself. This work develops an abstract model suitable for experimentally characterizing workloads based on a set of attributes that illustrate how the workloads stress the various architectural... Topics: CHLOROPHYLLS, BOTTLES, PLUMES, STATIONS, FLUORESCENCE, MISSISSIPPI RIVER (US), GULF OF MEXICO,...

INFORMATION IS PRESENTED ON THE OUTBURST OF GAMMA RADIATION RECORDED ON 17 JANUARY 1972 BY THE COSMOS-461 SATELLITE. THE OUTBURST IS ASSUMED TO BE OF GALACTIC OR EXTRAGALACTIC ORIGIN. Topics: COASTAL ECOLOGY, DELAWARE RIVER BASIN (US), LAND USE, VEGETATION, WETLANDS, EARTH RESOURCES...
The application of the parameter optimization computer program to the design of a rudder coordination system for the F-8 airplane is summarized. The flight condition was Mach 0.56 at 20,000 feet altitude. The system configuration selected consisted of signal paths that fed yaw rate and aileron signals to the rudder. The two signal paths were summed and then modified by a high pass filter to eliminate any steady state bias signal. The input axis of the yaw gyro was perpendicular to the aircraft... Topics: COLOR PHOTOGRAPHY, REMOTE SENSORS, INFRARED IMAGERY, VEGETATION GROWTH, WETLANDS, CHESAPEAKE BAY...
The design, development, and testing of a wide mass range residual gas analyzer which will be one component of an integrated real time contamination monitor system are described. The instrument has been developed and tested to the laboratory prototype phase, demonstrating the performance that can be expected from a flight instrument of similar design. The instrument's analyzer is of the quadrupole type and a cold cathode ion source is employed as the ionizer. The associated electronics supply... Topics: COASTAL ECOLOGY, VEGETATION, DELAWARE, GEOLOGY, IMAGERY, OCEANOGRAPHY, RESOURCES MANAGEMENT, EARTH...
This pamphlet describes the missions of discovery to Saturn, including the spacecraft names, their launch dates, and accomplishments. It also discusses the rings of Saturn which may hold clues to our solar system's evolution. The reverse side of the pamphlet contains a large photograph of Saturn and its ring system. Topics: CAPE KENNEDY LAUNCH COMPLEX, BIRDS, ENVIRONMENT EFFECTS, MAMMALS, POPULATIONS, REPTILES,...
